AFTER

Below is a copy of an email that Vicki got from a lady in Kansas, named Denise. A few months ago Vicki was going to the Calhan, CO horse Auction and she was rescuing horses from being sold for slaughter. At that auction Vicki rescued a very unique horse named Sport. Vicki bought him from the slaughter house dealer for a few hundred bucks. Nobody else would bid on him, nobody here in the "wild west" wanted to take him home. You see Sport is actually the kind of horse that probably brought many a young child (more often than not girls) to the show and won many ribbons. He is no small, short, solid cattle horse that the local cowboys might be used to. He is actually a show horse. A Saddlebred. A very tall, very high stepping and refined, highly trained horse, that can only be appreciated as a thing of beauty when carrying that child in the show. But in the auction they laughed at him and called him a bony "giraffe" and sent him to the slaughterhouse, that is until Vicki intervened. He was all skin and bones as he'd been underfed and neglected for a long time. After we brought him home we tended to his wounds and fed him well for many months. I finally got to ride him. He is really tall! but rides like a dream. I really enjoyed him. Vicki used the internet and was able to find a good home for him.  Read the email below their picture of Sport with two little kids who love him. He is now in a loving home in Idaho.
Sport is now happy with a great family !

Hi Vicki!
I just wanted to let you know that Sport is adjusting well.  Our 4 year old is in LOVE with him!  She prefers hanging out with him than doing anything else outside.  It's funny!  She tells anyone that will listen that she has a horse named Sport.  She's ridden him more than me or my husband.  He's so gentle with her but if Dave or I get on, then he's hot to trot.  After I rode him the first Sunday I told Dave that there was no way that he was a kids horse.  Boy, was I wrong.  Saddle him up, put Anna on, and he's the perfect gentleman.

Thanks for making our horse dream come true!  I'll mail the halter back to you tomorrow.  I keep forgetting to bring it to work!

"...She takes her time during the lessons and doesn't rush through them. The horses seem to relate to her and thus she gets things accomplished. With her many years of experience, I feel she is very competent and effective."
